Carson Fortner
Owner & Master Instructor
Carson Fortner started his training in 1994 under Charles Prescott in Sylvania, Georgia. In 2005 he received his first-degree Black Belt in American Tang Soo Do under the American Tang Soo Do Alliance. In 2007 he received his second-degree Black Belt, and in 2011 he received his third degree Black Belt in American Tang Soo Do. He earned his 4th degree in December of 2014 earning him the title of Master. Mr. Fortner tested for his 5th degree Black Belt in November of 2019. He has always had a passion for teaching children and enjoys watching them develop into amazing young people. It has always been Mr. Fortner’s dream to have a martial arts school and to create a home for his own students.

Joseph Bouchard
Chief Krav Maga Instructor & General Manager
Joseph Bouchard brings a powerful combination of elite military experience, advanced martial arts expertise, and leadership to his role as Chief Krav Maga Instructor and General Manager at America’s Best Martial Arts. With over 21 years of decorated service in the United States Army—including time in the prestigious 75th Ranger Regiment—Joseph’s background is defined by high-stakes leadership, battlefield-tested skill, and an uncompromising standard of excellence.
Joseph’s martial arts journey mirrors his military excellence. He holds a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Krav Maga under the American Krav Maga Federation and is recognized as a Chief Force Instructor within the organization. His ground game is equally formidable, holding a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Sergio Machado. As a Level 3 Kalah Instructor and the official U.S. Head Instructor for Kalah Combat Systems, Joseph delivers a raw, realistic, and principle-driven approach to violence prevention and survival under extreme threat.
His resume includes certifications in Special Operations Krav Maga (S.O.K.M.), the Special Operations Combatives Program (S.O.C.P.), and Master Instructor credentials in pistol, rifle, and shotgun through Sig Sauer Academy. He also holds advanced credentials in Active Shooter Response, Assault Readiness, and Master Breaching.

Sergio Machado
Team 3 Leadership
Sergio Machado served in the US Army and overcame a serious back injury and surgery in 2006 prior to his third tour in Iraq. After leaving the military in 2007, he pursued a professional career in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, receiving his black belt from Ricardo “Pancho” Feliciano. Sergio continues to train at Checkmat schools, stays active in the BJJ tournament scene, and is a marathoner/triathlete. He is also a police officer. Sergio currently lives in California and is the instructor that America’s Best BJJ programs fall under through Team 3.

Brandy Cruz is a homeschool mom of three wonderful children. As a special needs momma, she is dedicated to providing the best education and support for her kids. Being a military wife, she has learned to adapt and overcome challenges that come with a constantly changing lifestyle. In her free time, she enjoys learning jujitsu, which helps her stay active and focused. She is passionate about her roles as a mom, wife, and she strives to make a positive impact in the lives of those around her.
